Has your shoulder pain ever been so severe? Do you have neck pain also? Your shoulder pain may actually be referring from the neck. Sometimes you can even get pain down the arm and into the elbow, forearm, hands or fingers. This is why it is extremely important to understand what is causing this shoulder pain. But it is a lot more complex than you think - read on to find out how we can help you get back to living life pain-free!

Shoulder pain is one of the most common conditions we see at our clinic. Often times, they’ve been the patient’s case has been mishandled – they’ve been to many health professionals, they’ve had two to three cortisone injections and they’ve now just given up.

The only reason why they are coming to us because they’ve been recommended to us by a friend or family. After hearing their story, how long they’ve had it for, being thrown around from health professional to another, we will thoroughly assess the shoulder to then determine one thing.

The pain in the shoulder, is actually coming form the neck! Read on to find out how!

The spinal cord is in the centre of the neck and there are nerves which come off the spinal cord which move down into the shoulder, arm, hands and fingers.

Well, when the neck becomes irritated, it then irritates the nerves coming down from the neck and down into the shoulder, arm hands and fingers. So you actually get pain referring from the neck, into the shoulder (also known as cervical radiculopathy). This especially occurs with people that are experiencing very high pain levels.

It can even be common to get shoulder pain but no neck pain! Its weird how the body works but this actually occurs quite commonly.
