With the current world we live in, it can sometimes be hard to commit to an active lifestyle. If this is you, this is the perfect read! I get it, life is busy. Im fortunate enough to choose my own hours – to work longer hours so I can fit my gym session in the middle of the day. But not many people have this ability, and if you do, don’t ever let go of your workplace!
People often only focus on the big things and completely disregard the small things. When in reality, it’s the opposite – the small things, when done regularly, have the greatest impact.
“Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.” – Robert Collier
The following small habits are actually what I challenge you to do this next week – you’ll thank me for it!
1. Park your car a little further away
When we go shopping, we always try and find the closest parking possible – make your time as efficient as possible, its genius right? 2 first 2-3 rows are completely full, the last 2-3 rows; however, are deserted. Try park a little further away, that may only be a row further; just so you now have to walk an extra 30m. This done everyday will slowly increase your step count. Remember the small things count the most.
2. Keep the Desk Clear
Not only does the desk look aesthetically pleasing when its clear and clean; it actually makes you move around when you need things. If the stapler, the printer and the shredder are all in different rooms, that makes you get up and move around a fair bit more compared to if they were all within reach.
Have a small cup of water on your desk; prompting you to go and fill it up countless times throughout the day. That again means steps and movement which the body loves.
3. Lunch – Outside
Now that a lot of us work from home; we are stuck in the same 4 walls for at least 8-10 hours each day! Crazy! I go nuts after 3-4 hours! Take your lunch outside, your body and mind will thank you for it! Your mind needs change and your body loves the Vitamin D! 30 minutes is better than no minutes.
4. Challenge your Friends
We don’t give technology enough credit – Challenge your friends to exercises competitions! It gets competitive! This is where I cheat and go for walks just to log it in! healthy competition – double entendre
Just remember, the body thrives off movement! Feed the body movement and it will feed you when you need it most!
