Abdominal separation, also known as Rectus Diastasis or DRAMS, is a common condition where the large abdominal muscles (rectus abdominis) separate along the midline of the stomach. This separation often occurs during and after pregnancy as the growing uterus stretches the muscles, causing them to weaken and separate. Although this condition is most common in pregnant and postpartum women, it can also occur in men and women who have experienced significant weight fluctuations or undergone abdominal surgery.
If you have abdominal separation, you might notice a bulge or gap in the middle of your abdomen, especially when you use your abdominal muscles, such as when sitting up from a lying position. Other symptoms may include lower back pain, poor posture, constipation, bloating, and difficulty lifting objects or performing certain physical activities. You may also experience a feeling of weakness in your core muscles, making daily tasks more challenging.
We design tailored exercises that strengthen your core muscles safely and effectively, helping to close the gap and restore muscle function.
Our Pilates sessions focus on gentle, controlled movements that support muscle strengthening and improve overall stability.
